There are numerous benefits to dental implants when compared with other tooth replacement options – standard bridges and dentures. Their permanence is one of implants’ key features, but they also offer numerous other advantages.

Dental implants are replacements for the tooth roots; indeed, they are the only way a dentist can replace the root portion of one or more missing teeth. Small titanium screws that are placed in direct contact with your jaw bone in a minor oral surgical procedure, which our modern Ross-on-Wye dental practice is fully equipped to carry out, they mesh with your bone, not only supporting your new teeth, but also preventing the problem of bone resorbtion or shrinkage, which is a common side-effect in patients with several or all missing teeth.

Unlike with standard dentures, you won’t face any dietary restrictions with your new, implant-retained teeth. You can eat whatever you like, including chewy steak or a crunchy apple, with no worries about your teeth becoming loose and impacting on your ability to bite and chew.

Traditional denture-wearers frequently find their false teeth become looser and looser with the passing of time, which is often caused by bone resorbtion and shrinking gums. With dental implants, both these problems are prevented.

Come into Warrendale for a consultation with an implant dentist and they will assess how many implants you need. Oftentimes you need fewer implants than teeth, because a full arch of new teeth can be supported by between four and eight implants.
