Dental implants: the perfect way to replace missing teeth

Dental implants have many advantages over traditional tooth replacement products. At Warrendale dental practice Herefordshire, our skilled implant team can replace one, some, or even all of your natural teeth with the help of implants.

How treatment with dental implants works

One of the key things to remember about dental implants is that they are the only permanent way a dentist can replace missing teeth. These small titanium screws act as replacements for the root parts of one or more missing teeth, forming a strong bond with the jaw bone that enables them to give root-like support to false teeth, be they crowns, a bridge, or dentures.

Placement of dental implants requires a small operation, carried out here in the comfort of our Herefordshire dental practice. In most cases, only local anaesthesia is required for this procedure.

Your dentist will leave your implants to heal for a few months, during which time an exceptionally strong bond is made with the jaw bone. Because they are made from titanium, which is both highly compatible with the human body and osteoconductive, dental implants help to prevent the jaw bone shrinking – a common side-effect of tooth loss.

After healing is complete, your new teeth will be attached. These new teeth will look highly realistic, giving you the confidence to smile once more, but that’s not the best part; they will also act just like natural teeth. This means that you will face none of the dietary restrictions commonly associated with standard dentures.

With prudent aftercare and regular follow-up appointments, your implants and new teeth could last the rest of your life.
