Choose dental implants to rejuvenate your smile – and your life

Dental implants offer your dentist a permanent way to replace missing teeth. At Ross-on-Wye dental practice Warrendale, our skilled implant team can replace one, some, or even all of your natural teeth with the help of implants – and the good news is, if you have several or all your teeth missing, in most cases you won’t need as many implants as new teeth.

How dental implants work

dental-implantsAt our Ross-on-Wye practice, your dentist will undertake careful planning to assess whether you are suitable for implant treatment, and so long as you are to ensure your dental implants are precisely planned to provide maximum support for your new teeth.

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots made out of titanium, which is chosen because of its high degree of compatibility with the human body. Titanium is osteoconductive, which means it supports bone growth, helping to prevent the problem of bone loss so commonly associated with missing teeth.

After your implants have been placed – which requires a small operation at our Ross-on-Wye dental practice – they will be left to integrate with the jaw bone for a couple of months. During this time they will form a very strong bond with the bone, providing an excellent base on to which your dentist will then attach your new teeth.

For patients with one missing tooth, we usually place one implant and one crown. For several or all missing teeth, your dentist will recommend either an implant-retained bridge or denture. In this case, thanks to the precision planning and placement of your dental implants, one implant can usually support several new teeth, fully withstanding the forces generated in your mouth when you bite and chew food.

Dental implants and the associated restorations don’t just act like natural teeth, they look highly realistic, too, meaning you will have a beautiful, fully-functional smile once more.
