Ask your dentist about dental implants: the permanent way to replace lost teeth

Dental implants provide your dentist with a permanent way of replacing your missing teeth. At Warrendale Dental Care in Herefordshire we can use implants to replace anything from one to all of your natural teeth, for all intents and purposes giving you a second chance at a healthy and functional jaw.

Implants are small titanium screws or posts that are placed in direct contact with your jaw bone during minor oral surgery, which we carry out under local anaesthetic here at our Herefordshire practice. The procedure is fairly simple from a patient’s point of view, thanks to the intricate planning that your dentist will have undertaken prior to surgery.

As soon as your implants are in position in your jaw, the process of osseointegration begins, which sees your dental implants form a very strong bond with your jaw bone. As well as holding new teeth – either a single crown, a bridge, or dentures – in your mouth with a comparable strength to that of natural tooth roots, your dental implants also help to preserve the density of your jaw bone.

It is a loss of bone density that often causes standard dentures to become loose. At Warrendale Dental Care in Herefordshire your dentist can use dental implants to stabilise your dentures, alleviating the problems with eating, speaking, body image, and confidence that badly-fitting dentures can cause.

At our Herefordshire dental practice we can also replace a solitary missing tooth with one dental implant and a crown, or several missing teeth with a series of dental implants and an implant-retained bridge.

It takes a few months for your dental implants to fully integrate with your jaw bone, during which your Herefordshire implant surgeon may fit you with temporary teeth, so you don’t have to worry about being left toothless.

Once healing is complete you will be called back to our Herefordshire dental practice to have your permanent teeth attached.

With good aftercare, including regular visits to your Herefordshire dentist and hygienist for follow-up appointments, your dental implants and the new teeth attached to them could last you for life.
